Solar Power System Financing Options
There has never been a better time to invest in a solar power system for your business or organization. With the recent tax law changes
due the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or Stimulus Act as it is better known, powerful incentives are now being offered that
make investment in a solar power system of your own more possible than ever.
Beachside Solar Technologies, in association with local banks and equity investors, is now offering various finance models for
commercial solar power systems of all type and sizes.
Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)
A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is long term agreement to buy electricity at a pre-determined rate from a third party financer. In a
Power Purchase Agreement, the financer will develop a solar power system on the customers roof, parking lot or acreage, at no out of
pocket cost to the customer, and sell power to the customer at a price generally lower than the local utility rate. Terms for Power
Purchase Agreements are usually 20-25 years. Under a PPA, the customer pays for the power produced only, not for installation or
construction of the solar power system.
Leasing
Beachside Solar Technologies has arranged commercial leasing of solar power systems through local banks. Leasing is a good option for
organizations that do not need or qualify for Federal and State of Hawaii tax incentives for renewable energy. The lending institution
will use the tax credits instead, ultimately lowering the cost of the solar electric system. The solar electric system offsets a
portion of the power bought from the local utility, with the lease payment matching approximately the amount formerly paid to the
utility. Leases are shorter in term than PPA's, generally 7-10 years, and at the end of the lease term the customer has the option of
purchasing the system outright.
Financing
Beachside Solar Technologies offers customized equity and debt financing options for construction of solar power systems of all sizes.
Finance models vary, based upon the tax position of the customer, system size and energy usage. Please call today for a personal
consultation to determine the best finance option for your company or organization. We have an option for every customer and every
situation.
