Photovoltaic System Capabilities

Beachside Solar Technologies is one of the largest photovoltaic integrators in Hawaii and the Pacific, specializing in grid interconnected solar electric systems. With in house design, engineering and installation, our dedicated staff is capable of providing the highest level of service in our industry.

We custom design and engineer every photovoltaic system based on the needs and situation of our customer. Since every customer and application is unique, there is no "one size fits all" type of photovoltaic system. Beachside Solar Technologies is uniquely capable of installing all types of photovoltaic technology. With roots in the roofing industry, we possess particular knowledge and expertise that enables us to provide true turn-key installations of Building Integrated Photovoltaic Systems (BIPV), without having to subcontract out a portion of the project. This eliminates the probability of a warranty dispute between a roofing contractor and a solar power system installation contractor, essentially providing the customer with a single point of contact for any potential roof system or photovoltaic system warranty issue.

BIPV system type is determined primarily by the roof system type, roof slope and aesthetic requirements. Beachside Solar Technologies is capable of installing all types of BIPV systems, including the following:

SRS Energy Sole' Power Tile Photovoltaic Tile System

The SRS Energy Sole' Power Tile Photovoltaic Tile system is designed for integration with clay & concrete roofing tile systems. The Sole' Power Tile is a thin film mission tile profile photovoltaic module, that blends seamlessly into the roof system. SRS Energy has designed the Sole' Power Tile system as a photovoltaic solution for the customer that desires the aesthetics of a clay tile mission profile roof system. Manufactured with triple junction amorphous thin film photovoltaic technology, the Sole' Power Tile is lightweight and provides excellent power production in low and obscured light conditions.

Rack Mounted Crystalline Photovoltaic Systems

Rack mounted crystalline photovoltaic systems are the most common photovoltaic system installed in the world today. This is due to the relatively low cost of crystalline photovoltaic modules and the racking systems that are available for them. Rack mounted systems can be installed on a variety of roofs, since they are not integrated into the roof system, but instead are mounted above the roof via a variety of stands with racking that bolts to them. Rack mounted photovoltaic systems are commonly installed on asphalt shingle and built up roof systems, but can be installed on other roof types as well.

Photovoltaic Parking Lot Structures

Beachside Solar Technologies offers photovoltaic parking lot structures in both Crystalline and Thin Film technologies. Since each parking lot size and shape is unique, we offer a modular photovoltaic parking structure that can be adapted and scaled to fit any parking lot. Each parking structure is pre-engineered by Protek Park Systems Inc. Beachside Solar Technologies has an exclusive relationship with Protek Park Systems for the Hawaii and Guam market, and work closely together to design, engineer and construct the finest photovoltaic parking structures available. Protek Park Systems Inc. was established 75 years ago, and is the best pre-engineered parking structure manufacturer in the industry. By combining a custom designed photovoltaic system with a high quality pre-engineered parking structure, Beachside Solar Technologies and Protek Park Systems inc. can provide the finest photovoltaic parking structure installation available.

Ground Mounted Photovoltaic Systems

Beachside Solar Technologies offers Ground Mounted Photovoltaic systems for customers with large land holdings. These systems utilize either crystalline or thin film photovoltaic technologies, and are scalable to fit any tract of land. These systems are generally large systems covering many acres of land and are usually utility scaled and always grid interconnected.. Many factors affect the size and design such as acreage, topography, elevation, geology, etc. At more northerly latitudes, solar trackers are used to maximize energy harvest of ground mounted arrays. Since Hawaii is close to the equator, solar trackers generally do not provide enough energy gain to make it economically viable for installation. With the price of photovoltaic modules being at an all time low, large utility scale ground mounted photovoltaic system development is on the rise.
